About this event

Derbyshire Eco Centre

Develop the skills to work with clay to produce a variety of individually designed pieces of work in a friendly and informal environment.

Approximate course length: 2 hours

This course is for:

Learners of all abilities from beginners to the more experienced who wish to learn or develop pottery skills

The course will cover:

This course will give you a taster of what you will cover on the 5 week course and show you examples of:

• Basic techniques which may include pinching; slabbing, moulding and modelling

• Throwing a pot on a wheel (more advanced learners)

• Decorating and glazing techniques

• Health and safety in the workshop.

There will also be the opportunity to try some simple pottery techniques

This is a classroom based course which will provide an opportunity to develop your pottery skills in a friendly, sociable environment.

You will be given the support you require for your individual development.

There are no exams or formal assessments.

There will be chance to ask questions and put what you have learned into practice.

Your tutor will give you feedback during the course and you will be able to self-assess.

Work outside of sessions:

You may be given tasks or activities to practise or prepare between sessions.

Additional costs and what to prepare:

This course is offered free of charge and there are no other costs.

Please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting messy.

You may wish to wear an apron.
