Description

Overview

Power BI is an end user tool designed to allow users to create their own dashboards and reports without assistance from the IT crowd. Well yes but they are going to need some help from us to ensure they get the most out of this amazing tool. And of course Power BI continues to evolve - for example you can now publish reports to SQL Server 2016 Reporting Services and every month there are new features in the tool itself. So we’ll start the day with a quick familiarisation of what Power BI can do and then look at how to extend it:

  • The language of Power BI M & DAX

  • Custom visualisations including R

  • Working with Reporting Services parameters

  • Power BI embedded, when why & how

While it is quite fun watching other working especially when demos don’t work , this is a workshop so we’ll be doing together so please bring a laptop capable of running the Power BI Desktop tool
