Event description

Description

Who isn’t excited about a clean future – where fossil fuels and pollution are just memories? Sometimes progress feels slow, but local projects are making changes and creating this future right now.

At this event you will hear directly from community groups who have run successful projects. We will also explore how we can work together to unlock bigger opportunities.

This event is specifically for those who own, operate and love community buildings– community centres, schools, churches, mosques, and childrens’ centres.

Come along to talk directly to community buildings who have recently implemented projects –

  • Energy Heroes – using behaviour change to cut energy use
  • LED Lighting – saving carbon and cutting costs
  • Installing on-site renewable energy - solar panels
  • Looking at larger scale/shared ownership energy projects

Find out how you can fund a project - including

  • Grant funding and zero interest loans for energy projects
  • “Crowdfunding” donations to support your organisation
  • Creating community companies to share ownership

We'll also ask you to tell us what help and support you need to make projects happen in your neighbourhood.

Please note that places for this event are strictly limited to voluntary and community organisations.

This event will include lunch.

Confirmed presenters include:

  • Julie Hall, School Business Manager, Holywell Green Primary School
  • Margaret Crossley, Norland CE School
  • Finn Jensen, Pennine Community Power & Power to Change
  • Mark Simmonds, Co-Op Culture & The Community Shares Unit
  • Kate Gilmartin, My Green Investment & the Micro Hydro Association
