The world has made important progress towards gender equality and women’s empowerment since the introduction of the Millennium Development Goals, but women and girls continue to suffer from discrimination and violence in every part of the world. Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world. The Impact Hub brings you a series of events around the themes Freedom, Power, and Caring, to shed light on the future and the role of women in that future.
An essay by actress Jennifer Lawrence on the subject of pay in Hollywood provoked numerous discussions on how – and how well – women negotiate their salary. As a result of the Sony email leak in 2014, Lawrence discovered that her male co-stars were earning more money than she was. As a result, Lawrence recalled feeling angry with herself for not demanding higher pay from the studio executives. “I failed as a negotiator because I gave up early,” she wrote. “I would be lying if I didn’t say there was an element of wanting to be liked that influenced my decision to close the deal without a real fight.”
At the end of this session, you will walk away with the essential Dos and Don'ts for your next negotiation.
We would love to see you there!
