As our electricity system becomes increasingly decentralised, renewable generation grows, and demand for electric vehicles and electrified heat rises, the grid is increasingly under pressure.
In the current market, value is predominantly placed on the amount of electricity a consumer uses.
In the near future 'Flexibility' will become a service or commodity that can be bought or sold, just as energy is today.
PowerShaper is a service which enables you to get paid for allowing us to turn your electrical appliances on and off remotely. The idea is that this will support the flexible operation of the electricity grid and enable more of your energy to be supplied by renewable sources.
