The film documents the journey of artist activists and film-makers Hilary Powell and Dan Edelstyn as they attempt to install solar panels on every home on their street in Walthamstow to generate clean, affordable energy for the community, cut their bills by 30% and build resilience.
The blend of activism, art and community organising shows how neighbours came together to support the project. Creative fundraising efforts featured include a sponsored rooftop sleep-out in December and an Christmas number one bid by local school children.
It is a “how-to guide” for communities to undertake similar projects, showcasing a model for a sustainable, people-powered future.
The film is for anyone interested in community-led initiatives, grass roots activism and practical solutions for climate change – and anyone who wants to kick start a community-led renewable energy revolution.
To bring it all together, we will have a panel discussion after the film - watch this space for more information.
