Event description

Description

The recently published Fabian report, Powerful People Powerful Places explores how people’s attachments to their own local areas can be galvanised to create a meaningful community led environmentalism. Drawing on focus group research in Milton Keynes, Liverpool and Truro, interviews with councillors from across the country, and survey data with over 7,000 environmental campaigners, the report offers practical recommendations for councillors and community organisations looking to turn residents’ desire to improve their local environments, into action.

This event will discuss the report’s findings and how to engage communities in environmental action.

The event is very kindly supported by Woodland Trust.

Speakers:

Sue Hayman MP (shadow secretary of state for environment, food and rural affairs)

Lord Roy Kennedy (shadow DCLG minister)

Leonie Cooper AM (chair, London Assembly environment committee)

Rebecca Speight (CEO, Woodland Trust)

Chair: Cllr Natan Doron (Haringey Labour)
