Post Qualifying Diploma in Eating Disorders: Brain, Body and Mind (Advanced Specialist Training Status with NCS)

Our Post Qualifying Diploma in Eating Disorders is a part-time course for suitably qualified professionals. Available to study over 6 weekends, this informative course has Advanced Specialist Training Status with the National Counselling Society (NCS).

• Offers students a cutting-edge experience in understanding ways in which our relationship with food interacts with the brain, mind and body.
• An inspiring learning experience, which will enable participants to understand the complexity of relationships with food through physiology, neuroscience, and psychology.
• Suitable for those working within health and social care, including qualified counsellors, student counsellors (see eligibility criteria), psychotherapists, counselling and clinical psychologists, mental health and well-being professionals, nurses, doctors and teachers who would like to develop a greater depth of understanding about eating disorders, and how to help.

Your first step towards a rewarding career in the working therapeutically in this field, this live online course presentation, presented by one of our amazing core tutors, will cover all aspects of our Post Qualifying Diploma in Eating Disorders training, followed by a Q&A session for any unanswered questions you may have.

Please note: The above course requires physical attendance in Exeter and/or Poole. We warmly and actively welcome people from all nationalities at our college; however, please note that we are not a licensed Tier 4 sponsor, and therefore we are not legally permitted to offer a place to international students who would require a Tier 4 visa.

About the Tutor:

Sarah Palmer

Iron Mill College Lecturer: Post Qualifying Diploma in Eating Disorders

Sarah started her journey into counselling in 2009 after leaving behind a career in financial management in the media industry in Soho, London to move to Somerset. Since qualifying, for the past 6 years, she has been a volunteer counsellor at SWEDA which is a charity based in Shepton Mallet, Somerset supporting all those affected by eating disorders. As a qualified trainer Sarah also delivers eating disorder awareness programmes in schools, colleges, youth centres and medical practices for SWEDA, and has led an eating disorder support group for both sufferers and carers.

Her time at SWEDA has given Sarah a breadth of experience and depth of insight into a wide range of eating disorders, their impact on the physical and mental health of sufferers and the wider impact on their lives and those supporting them.

Sarah also runs a private practice from her home which she shares with her husband. Having trained as a classical actress in her youth, Sarah spends much of her spare time both on stage and working behind the scenes of her local theatre.
