Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

Claire Dupree joins us for a very unique masterclass which lifts the lid on the often misunderstood world of music PR and music journalism.

If you are a musician making great music, but have no idea how to promote it, or if you are a writer/blogger and want to know more about the music press then don’t miss this very unique opportunity to hear from an expert in the field.

Claire is the editor of the monthly NARC Magazine, which has run for over 10 years and become a North East publishing institution. Claire has done it all from interviewing well know bands like The Shins, to putting on her own festival and more recently launching an online version of the magazine. However, the core of NARC is championing the local music scene, be that a new band playing their first gig or homegrown successes like Maximo Park and Field Music.

This masterclass will dig deep into exactly how printed and digital press works and offer a wealth of tips on how best to approach the tricky issue of self promotion. Claire will also be giving advice for would-be journalists and music bloggers on forging a career in the entertainment press.

The masterclass will finish with an audience Q&A and by the end of the session attendees will leave with a much clearer understanding of the music press.
