Art History: I Could Do That! explores what makes something ‘art’ and how value, context, and ideas influence our responses to it. The class encourages curiosity over judgment, offering tools to better understand and appreciate contemporary and modern art. It celebrates the idea that everyone has the potential be critical of art and to create meaningful art. It’s an opportunity to break down the barriers that often separate artists from audiences and to see that art can be something to understand, not just something to observe.

Art History: I Could Do That! features an illustrated lecture about the history of several prevalent artists, combined with practical art activities inspired by experimental art to embed your understanding of techniques and methods. We cover modern and contemporary movements and artists to give you knowledge on their work and life. Please Note: sensitive themes and nudity may be shown and discussed during the lecture.

We welcome all abilities to join us for portfolio development, practice or fun! The live classes are also followed by an optional informal group discussion to share thoughts in a non-judgemental space.

If you can’t attend a class, recordings are available to view. These recordings are sent directly to your email following the class via a private YouTube video link.
