  • A 3 hour hands-on practical experience inspecting the honey bee colonies at our teaching apiary
  • An overview of hive components and their functions in a modern beehive
  • Guidance on proper handling and care of honey bees to ensure safety and well-being
  • Discussion on the common challenges and issues encountered in beekeeping and how to address them
  • Beekeeping equipment including bee suits and gloves are provided for this experience (participants are advised to wear appropriate trousers and footwear like boots or wellies)

No, unfortunately lunch is not provided for this event. We can aim to take a lunch break in the middle of the session depending on attendee preference.

Do you provide bee suits and protective equipment for this event?

Yes, bee suits and gloves are provided for the experience but please wear appropriate trousers and ankle-covering footwear like boots or wellies.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If the weather is particularly bad (rain, storm, snow) and not suitable for hive inspections then the session will need to be rearranged. You can either request a refund (minus Eventbrite’s fees) or request a voucher to attend on a different day.
