Practical Managers Day - East Sussex

This one day workshop has been designed to assist managers in Scouting to effectively undertake what some see as the more challenging aspects of their role. Whilst the situations used in the sessions are 'Group' focused, the day is open not just to GSLs and Assistant Group Scout Leaders, but to other volunteer managers, including District Commissioners, Deputy District Commissioners and District Explorer Scout Commissioners.
Whether you have a recent appointment or have been in the role for a good while, the day offers the opportunity to update yourself on current procedures, refresh your skills, share good practice and network with other volunteer managers. (Newly appointed Group Scout Leaders are advised to attend a GSL Essentials Day first.) Other workshop dates can be viewed here.
The Practical Managers Day is an opportunity to spend time looking at how to get the best from your team including effective welcoming and induction techniques, valuing people and managing difficult conversations. We look at successful adult recruitment through engaging with parents and you can use the opportunity to meet other GSL’s and do some problem solving together.
Travelling by car: Bushy Wood activity centre is locataed just off the main road, the A22, adjacent to Hailsham.
