Practical Manager's Day (Sevenoaks Kent)
Sat 20 May 2017, 09:30 – 16:30 BST
This one day workshop has been designed to assist managers in Scouting to effectively undertake what some see as the more challenging aspects of their role. Whilst the situations used in the sessions are 'Group' focused, the day is open not just to GSLs and Assistant Group Scout Leaders, but to other volunteer managers, including District Commissioners, Deputy District Commissioners and District Explorer Scout Commissioners.
Whether you are a recent appointment or have been in the role for a good while, the day offers the opportunity to update yourself on current procedures, refresh your skills, share good practice and network with other volunteer managers. (Newly appointed Group Scout Leaders are advised to attend a GSL Essentials Day first.)
Other workshop dates can be viewed here.
Our Practical Manager's Day covers the following key areas:
- Overview of the Purpose of the Scout Group and the Role of the GSL
- Understanding Volunteering
- Successful Adult Recruitment
- The New Volunteer’s Journey and the role of the GSL
- Getting the Best from Your Team (1) (Welcome, Induction and Valueing people)
- Getting the Best from Your Team (2) (Succession Planning and Review)
- A Quick Guide to Youth Involvement
