About this Event

Are you setting up a new community garden or horticulture project and would like the knowledge and skills to organise your growing space and plan how to deliver sessions for wellbeing?

Have you been running ‘gardening on prescription’ or therapeutic horticulture sessions and would like to develop your skills and knowledge further and share ideas and problems?

This practical workshop covers

• Choosing sites and locations for horticulture projects and being aware of basic Health and Safety issues

• Making the most of your site facilities to deliver sessions all year round

• Promoting the therapeutic/wellbeing content of horticultural tasks and projects

• Developing an annual schedule of seasonal tasks for your site

• Activities for different abilities; adapting tasks for a variety of participants

• Ownership and ongoing care for your site

As an experienced and qualified Horticulturalist and teacher I will be sharing the experience, knowledge and skills I have developed in over 10 years of managing sites and delivering horticulture sessions in local parks, secondary and primary schools, Mental Health in-patient units, low and medium secure units, allotments and therapeutic gardens. I have worked with children, teenagers and adults with Learning disabilities, Learning difficulties, physical and mental health problems.

You will leave the workshop more confident in how to plan and use your growing site; with an extensive list of seasonal activities and plenty of ideas on how to adapt them for specific participants and therapeutic activities.

Please get in touch if you’d like to discuss any details about the workshop before booking.

Places are limited to 10 to ensure all attenders have time to raise issues and ideas during the workshop.

A follow up 1-2-1 consultation at your own growing site is available to workshop attenders at a discounted rate of £150, plus travel expenses.
