Practitioner Training: Emotional Well-being in Young Children (Pre-School)Aimed at: Child-Care Providers, Nursery & Early Years PractitionersCost: £35 20 Places Available

This workshop explores how child-care professionals can support young children struggling with poor mental health. Creating a happy, child-centred learning environment for children to thrive - socially, emotionally & physically.

This training is delivered by Tracy Chadwick. Tracy is the founder of the Child Therapy Service CIC and has over 15 years' experience teaching children with Autism Spectrum Conditions and associated conditions, both in mainstream and SEN settings. Later in Tracy's career, she specialised in working with children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) conditions. Working in Cuckmere House Teaching School and alongside St Richard's Catholic College Teaching School. She was the professional tutor and Appropriate Body for NQTs in East Sussex- Tracy understands how a child's emotional needs can be met within an education setting. Her background in Quality Assurance as a Lead Auditor, then gives her the skills to create processes and systems that deliver effective change.

  • How do emotions impact on a child: physically, psychologically, academically and socially?
  • What assessment tools are available to identify poor mental health in young children?
  • What does a positive well-being learning environment look like?
  • How can the Zones of Regulation help young children understand their own emotions
  • What does positive behaviour management look like and why does the thinking chair not work
  • What does an individual positive well-being plan look like?
  • What activities need to be planned into each day to meet the social, emotional and mental health of all young children?
  • How do we measure the effectiveness of our positive well-being environment?

You will receive:

  • Assessment guidelines to identify poor mental health in young children
  • An adapted Zones of Regulation Program to use in your setting
  • Positive behaviour management strategies/toolkit
  • An individual well-being plan that can be used for children in your setting
  • Completed weekly planning overview for emotional well-being
  • Audit checklist to measure the effectiveness of a positive well-being environment
  • Certificate of attendance for Continued Professional Development (CPD)
