Prayer Dances
Event Information
About this Event
Imbolc calls for Dancing!
She calls for us to align with the deep potency of the earth which is the deep potency of our beings, and dance ourselves alive, so that we might rise well with the Spring.
In rural Zimbabwe dance is for prayer, and prayer is for healing and empowerment of the whole community, seen and unseen. These traditions know that our alignment with truth, and a calling of that truth into being through prayer is one of the most powerful, healthy and sensible ways to respond to life's challenges. These dances know how to root us deep, lift us up and return us to a place of gratitude and vitality from where we can meet life with open hearts and aligned spirits.
IN this 6 week course, we'll welcome the sweet magic of mbira and the power of the drum into our homes, give our bodies time to land, explore some of the techniques, dances, songs and rhythms of the Shona tradition and open a space to dance our prayers in honour of this life.
These sessions will be lead by Denise Rowe and supported with live music from Kennedy Chinyere and special guests
With support from the National Lottery, we are able to offer some highly subsidised places on this course. Your generosity in paying what you can afford is greatly appreciated.
There are a few places available on a donations basis if your finances have got really tricky. We'd like to open this circle wide.
