Description
Dr Will Johnson from Loughborough University will be visiting the University of Leeds on Thursday 8th June 2017 to present a seminar entitled:
“Pre-conceptional and gestational weight trajectories and risk of delivering a small-for-gestational age baby in rural Gambia”
Date: Thursday 8th June 2017
Time: 2.00pm
Venue: Seminar room 9.59, Worsley building
Will's experience and expertise are in: lifecourse obesity epidemiology; secular trends in obesity development; and maternal and child nutrition. Underlying all of these substantive areas is an interest in human physical growth and development; and expertise in the application/development of growth charts and longitudinal data analysis.
Particularly relevant to this talk are Will's work on: (i) applying complex analytical models to develop new growth charts (e.g., body composition references for pre-term infants); (ii) investigating how the growth of a sample compares against a new chart and quantifying the implications of adopting that chart (e.g., implications of adopting the WHO 2006 Child Growth Standard in the UK, Portugal, India, and Samoa); and (iii) interrogating the ability of different charts to predict adverse outcomes.
