Precision Teaching for Literacy
This training will provide a practical step-by-step guide to using precision teaching as an assessment and monitoring tool to teach literacy skills to children and young people of all ages.
It will highlight:
- some of the theory and research underpinning precision teaching
- explain how precision teaching works in practice
- give opportunities to practise the key tasks involved in precision teaching.
It will provide all suggested materials; probe sheets and other resources. This is one of two sessions on the subject of Precision Teaching; one focuses on numeracy skills and the other on literacy skills. Both will teach you how to use Precision Teaching as an intervention for any basic skill, the difference is in what practical skills you learn to teach in the session. You will therefore not need to attend both sessions.
This session is available to all school staff but is likely to be most useful to the staff carrying out the intervention e.g. Teaching Assistants or intervention teachers.
Cost of this course includes:
- Spaces for up to two members of staff from the same school
- One follow up session to support implementation (online)*
*This could be for troubleshooting and/or action planning depending on the needs of the school.
Please note this course is for staff members who work in West Northamptonshire settings only.
