Ready to join the Data Science Bootcamp 2017?

We are pleased to open our 24 Data Science Bootcamp's sessions to the public!

In this session, Loïc Quertenmont and Sébastien Mouthuy will introduce the challenges in the energy sector and the importance of energy forecasting. In a hands-on way, they will show the participants how to use Data Science and Machine Learning to forecast energy related variables.

Target

  • Data Science professionals.

Prerequisites

  • Knowledge of Python.

  • Installation of Python 3 and Jupyter notebook (http://jupyter.org/install.html)

Session outline

  • Energy sector challenges in particular the forecasting of the renewable energy production.

  • Data science stack in Python (with Jupyter, Numpy, Pandas, Scikit-learn).

  • Forecasting / Machine Learning applied to time series data in the energy sector (ARIMA, deep learning (MLP and RNN), ensemble methods (AdaBoost and Random Forest)).

  • Contest: Forecasting Solar panels/Wind turbines production in Belgium.

Practicalities

  • Lunch is included in your ticket.

  • Doors open at 8.30 am.

  • Accesibility: public transport (stop Yser / Ijzer ). We do not have parking but normally there are some parking slots at Rue de Commerçants.
