Peter Sheppard Skærved continues his exploration of the 17th Century violin, inspired by the astonishing architecture of London's Square Mile. Musical counterpoints to the artistry of Wren, Hawksmoor and Hooke, selected from work of violin makers and composers whose work flooded London in the years following the Great Fire of 1666

The first inspiration for this series of concerts, was Select Preludes & Volentarys for the violin by the most eminent Masters in Europe by Messrs Walsh & Hare, sold from their shop 'At the sign of the Golden Viol' on St Paul's Churchyard. Their collection of solo works offers striking overview of virtuoso and expressive violin writing across Europe, and played in the Square Mile at that time

Next concert in the series: Preludes & Vollenteries 4: St Mary Aldemary 6pm Thursday 26th Octobe
