Event description

Description

Regardless of the diagnosis, all individuals with ASD will reach puberty around the same time as their neuro-typical peers. This is often a much under-discussed topic within autism with many parents and young people often unequipped with the body changes, hormone changes and other issues associated with puberty. The workshop will discuss the various puberty situations as well as trouble-shooting scenarios to help make this particular transition easier for all.

The Empower project is a Big Lottery funded initiative through the Reaching Out Supporting Families Programme which support Families across Mid Ulster and Antrim & Newtownabbey Council areas. The focus of the project is to support children under 12 with Autism, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia, their parents and the wider family circle to enhance confidence and learn together to develop skills to support their children.
