About this course

Have you ever noticed how often you use numbers in everyday life?

Do you want to gain a level 2 maths qualification but not sure what it involves?

This introduction to functional maths skills will build your confidence with numbers and calculations in preparation for transferring to an accredited Functional Maths qualification in September 2024. If you achieve a level 2 qualification in maths this will open-up more job and training opportunities. For example, if you would like to seek employment in administration, the trades, teaching or retail, a level 2 functional skills maths qualification is a must.

Our experienced, fully qualified tutors will give simple explanations and guidance to help you improve your current maths skills and remember any areas that you may have forgotten. Plus, the course will be full of like-minded learners – like you - keen to build their maths confidence and get ahead.

By the end of the sessions, you will be able to:

- identify the maths skills you need to tackle a problem

- use maths hints and tips to find the solution you’re looking for

- explain the process you used to get an answer and draw simple conclusions from it

- practise your new-found maths skills in everyday life.

This course leads to Functional Skills Maths (various levels dependant on assessment) – courses starting both face-to-face and online from September 2024

This course is for people who don’t already have a level 2 qualification in maths (GCSE C/4 or above) or are not confident in using maths at this level.
