Description

Event organisers

Brought to you by a group of expert partners, this free event will help you understand what BIM is and how it relates to the Scottish Government’s BIM Implementation strategy within the Public Sector from April 2017.

Delivered by Construction Scotland Innovation Centre in conjunction with BIM Scotland Suppliers Group, Construction Scotland, Scottish Futures Trust, BIM Regions Scotland and on this occasion Highlands and Islands Enterprise, delegates will be introduced to the context and practicalities of BIM.

This event will be supported by Energy Skills Partnership and Dundee and Angus College. The Energy Skills Partnership (ESP) is a collaboration of Scotland’s colleges and industry partners established to increase Scotland’s capability and capacity to deliver the right skills for the energy, engineering and construction sectors to meet industry demand. Dundee and Angus College is a further education and higher education college in Dundee, Scotland. It is the only college in Dundee, and, with approximately 23,000 enrolments, is one of the largest in the country.

The workshop will cover how best to prepare for the impact it may have on your construction-related business, and what industry resources are available to support the next steps.

Topics covered include:

  • External context for BIM: global, national, standards and support communities
  • BIM Basics – What does it mean to you? What are the benefits?
  • BIM Level 1 and 2 background and the need for collaborative working
  • Roles and responsibilities of the supply chain members and clients
  • Core and extended suite of standards, documents and deliverables
  • The concept of Soft Landings / Government Soft Landings (GSL)
  • Information Management and the value of a whole lifecycle asset approach
  • Barriers to successful adoption of BIM Level 2 and how to create the conditions for success
  • Key vulnerability issues and the security controls for digitally built assets

This event will give you a strong foundation in your knowledge of BIM Fundamentals and prepare you for the next Awareness Part 2 Event - Roles and Responsibilities - (details coming soon!)
