Preparing for Difficult Climate Conversations
Overview
People in the UK are concerned and worried about climate change [1]
The last year has seen an increase in messaging that devalues and deprioritises climate action.
Instead of seeing the related benefits of climate action: reduced bills, cleaner air, improved health…[2] Climate action is presented as a competing priority, or even as a threat to individual choice.
How do you talk about climate action within this context? Particularly at a local council level?
Knowing that to address the climate crisis, we need to work together. That means engaging in genuine dialogue rather than making speeches and talking past one another.
In this session, facilitated by Climate Emergency UK, you will explore how to best approach these increasingly difficult conversations. Starting with an individual exercise you will then have the opportunity to hear from two expert speakers who have been working on this topic, sharing some tips and tricks that can be applied to your conversations.
