You are booking to attend two x 2 hour sessions held on two consecutive weeks at the same time and place. (Week 1 run by the Family Support Service & Week 2 run by the Public Health Nursing Team (Health Visitors)) held at the following venue:-

Thursdays 4pm- 6pm

PLEASE CHOOSE THE DATE YOU WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND. ONE BOOKING WILL AUTOMATICALLY ENROLL YOU ONTO THE SECOND WEEK.

UP TO 2 PEOPLE CAN ATTEND PER TICKET.

Week 1 will be run by the Family Support Service.

Week 2 will be run by the Public Health Nursing Team (Health Visitors)

PLEASE ENSURE YOU ARE AT LEAST 25 WEEKS PREGNANT WHEN STARTING THIS COURSE, IDEALLY IT SHOULD BE COMPLETED BEFORE 35 WEEKS. If you are unsure about this, please speak to your midwife.

To get the full benefit of the course please attend both sessions.

The Preparing for Parenthood course consists of 2 free sessions, presented by Health Visitors and Family Support staff. It will cover the essentials of preparing for parenthood and the early years.

The sessions will cover:

  • The support available from the Family Centre Service.
  • All aspects of infant feeding.
  • Emotional preparation for birth and parenthood.
  • Practical aspects of caring for a baby.
  • What to expect during baby's first hour.
  • Support available for baby's first 5 years.
  • How babies communicate.
  • Healthy relationships, mother's well-being and baby's development.
  • Recognising baby's well-being.
  • Essential information about keeping baby safe and healthy throughout the early years.

COVID MEASURES

As always, we are taking safety at our event seriously. We have important measures in place to mitigate the risks to you and our staff from COVID-19.

Please read these measures carefully before booking a place:

  • We have tried to use large well ventilated rooms with enough space for social distancing.
  • We request that all attendees are fully vaccinated.
  • You may be asked to use the hand sanitiser upon entering the session.
  • Please ensure that you are well on the day of the event, please do not attend if either of you are unwell or have signs of Covid-19.
  • Please do not attend the event if anyone in your household is self- isolating during the 5 days prior to / on the day of the event.
  • We encourage attendees to take a rapid lateral flow test prior to attending, if symptomatic, to prevent the risk of spreading Covid-19. We do appreciate these are no longer available free to all.
  • Following current NHS guidance please wear a face covering over your nose and mouth when attending sessions.
  • All facilitators will maintain respiratory hygiene measures – either wearing a face visor or with clear screen in place.
