Are you a Scottish business who would like to start exporting? Get ready to grow your business abroad with our help.

Learn how to reach international markets with confidence at our two-day preparing to export introductory workshop in Aberdeen. You will get practical information on international, routes to market and international finance, contracts and logistics. It’s the perfect primer for a company thinking about international growth.

Create your export plan We’ll help you create an export plan – an online working document that will be secure and confidential for you and your business. You’ll be able to edit your plan at any time and download it as a PDF or Word document. Once complete, you can send your plan to your designated adviser for feedback and comment.

Where and When?

Our Preparing to Export introductory workshops are run over two days and will be hosted by Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce offices with Scottish Development International at their offices in Aberdeen . You’ll need to attend both workshops to complete the programme. Workshops are from 9.30am to 4pm on the following dates:

• Tuesday 13 February 2018

• Wednesday 14 February 2018

Scottish Enterprise's Preparing to Export Programme is fully-funded to Scottish companies and is part-funded through the European Structural and Investment Funds (Investing in a Smart, Sustainable and Inclusive Future). You should note that this support is a form of state aid, and on attendance it will count towards your overall De Minimis allowance.

Who should attend?

If you’re an ambitious company ready to take on the challenge of developing your business internationally and your export capability, then this is for you.

What’s covered?

Day one: 9.30am – 4pm

• Market analysis - why export?, importance of export planning, selecting target markets, market research, basic legal issues, protecting your intellectual property

• Market entry - routes to market and different options available, agency, distribution, licencing and partnership agreements, international marketing and sales, websites, e-commerce and social media, visiting the market, exhibitions and trade shows

Day two: 9.30am – 4pm

• We will cover: International finance, contracts and logistics - new exporter’s checklist, budgeting and costing, export pricing, incoterms, vat, customs duties, tariffs, getting paid and currency, contracts and international terms and conditions, logistics and transportation

• 1-2-1 Company support and preparation of export cction plan - all attendees will be helped to prepare an export action plan to help them to achieve their objectives and understand how this fits into their overall strategy for export

• Presentation of individual export action plans and feedback
