Are you a Scottish business who would like to start exporting? Get ready to grow your business abroad with our help.

This workshop is hosted by Scottish Development International (SDI) in partnership with Business Gateway Clackmannanshire and Forth Valley Chamber of Commerce. SDI is the international arm of Scotland’s enterprise agencies.

You will learn how to reach international markets with confidence and get practical information on international, routes to market. This workshop also covers international finance, contracts and logistics. It’s the perfect primer for a company thinking about international growth.

You’ll be able to edit your plan at any time and download it as a PDF or Word document. Once complete, you can send your plan to your designated adviser for feedback and comment.

Morning

session one - Market analysis and research:

  • The decision to export, and planning for export success

Session two - Routes to market:

  • The pros and cons of the different routes to market and market segmentation
  • Effective pricing for international markets

Session three - International marketing:

  • Internet and social media options for exporting
  • Developing your export market proposition
  • International exhibitions and trade shows
  • Cultural and language considerations

Session four - Legal and technical aspects of exporting:

  • Agency and distribution agreements
  • Protecting yourself in international markets
  • Export contracts and key export documentation
  • Logistics, labelling and IP considerations
  • Sources of support and help

Session five - Export plans:

  • 1-2-1 Company support and preparation of export action plan - all attendees will be helped to prepare an export action plan. This will help you to achieve your objectives and understand how this fits into your overall strategy for exporting
  • Presentation of individual export action plans and feedback
