Event description

Description

From May 25th 2018, the legislation covering the way data is protected in our country will change. The Data Protection Act 1998 will disappear and into UK law will come the General Data Protection Regulations.

The introduction of the new regulations affects anyone who ‘processes’ data including schools who will find an increased level of expectation placed on them to manage data. These changes include;

· Increased emphasis on being able to demonstrate compliance

· As public bodies, a new statutory role of Data Protection Officer to address data protection within the organisation

· New principles for data processing

· Increased rights for the data subject

· Increased expectations around data security

· Increased requirements to report data ‘loss’

This half-day course led by our qualified EUGDPR Practitioner will look at the new regulation, the key aspects that will impact on schools and their day to day running. We will look at some simple steps that schools can take to get themselves prepared and support demonstrating compliance.
