From Stage to Screen: Auto-Fiction and Embodied Storytelling

Film Screening & Talk

Wednesday 10th September

8.45pm

Cinema 2 @ Dundee Contemporary Arts

Duration: 75 mins

Age: 18+ (Under 18 to be accompanied by an adult)

Choreographer, Film Maker and Performer Ian Kaler explores the conjunctions of autobiography and fiction in the form of a screening and talk. From Stage to Screen highlights Kaler’s investigation of choreography across media and contexts and addresses politics of representation through a transmasculine lens.

The selection of short films and excerpts from dance pieces traces the past ten years of Kaler’s practice that run parallel with his physical transition. Looking back he reflects on the need to expand his work towards storytelling and narration. The event ends with an outlook on the development of stage and film work to come.
