Presentation Skills Workshop
Wed 10 February 2016, 14:00 – 17:00 GMT
Presentation Skills Workshop, presented by Ivor Tymchak
Do you want to pitch yourself, or your business idea with impact and confidence? Does presenting to a large group of people scare the wits out of you? Than this course is for you!
Ivor is a member of Leeds Creative Timebank and has a wealth of experience and brings his knowledge to you, in this 3 hour workshop, designed to ensure you walk away feeling more confident and secure in your ability to deliver a great presentation.
This has proven to be much in demand from Universities and Colleges, mostly, because these institutions know that a graduate is going to have to sell themselves extremely hard when they enter the commercial world. Anyone with confident presentation skills therefore is going to stand out from the crowd when they pitch for work or grants.
This workshop will run for 3 hours with a dozen or so people in the group. This will allow for plenty of interaction from the attendees whilst minimising their time away from their work.
Topics covered include:
Structuring your message
Ivor is principally known for his involvement with Bettakultcha, an event that he co-founded and still compère to this day. It is an evening of illustrated short talks given by volunteers and most of Ivor's experience with presenters and their techniques stems from here.
His overriding passion though is creativity. From early school he was a gifted artist and everyone assumed he would go to Art College – which he did, but at Sheffield University (where he was a contemporary of Nick Park) he studied filmmaking.
Having made several films he then went on to create and write a strip cartoon called Life and How to Live it for a national music paper called Sounds.
He still performs stand-up, as it is such a good learning ground for presentation skills.
He then ran his own graphic design business for many years before earning most of his income from live caricature work. Subsequently he became interested in passing on some of his experience and developed a workshop for encouraging creativity in the workplace, which was used by Unilever amongst others.
This wealth of experience has allowed Ivor to put together a portfolio of presentations and workshops that bristle with creative ingenuity and imagination. It is his belief that someone produces their best work when they are being creative and having fun. He therefore attempts to make the workshops as much fun as possible whilst still delivering invaluable knowledge.
