Overview

This is a 1/2 day workshop on how to plan, prepare and deliver effective presentations with in a professional environment.

Presentations are something that virtually all engineers, scientists and technologists have to do as part of their job these days, and are often key to gaining funding or approval for new developments etc. Developing these skills and understanding how to prepare fully is a vital skill.

  • How to prepare, what you need to consider to prepare effectively
  • Getting the delivery right
  • Some golden rules on effective presentations.

Objective

This master class / workshop is aimed at YINI students who will during this year, or at some stage in the future, be likely to be required to give presentations in a professional environment.

It will help you ask the right questions to prepare and ensure your presentation message is targeted at the right audience.


Deliverer

Ben Salisbury // System Engineering Manager, Horizon Nuclear Power

Ben has worked in the civil nuclear engineering industry in the UK for 16 years but also has a keen interest in the wider methods for electricity generation and how we can ensure a sustainable energy future for the world. Ben is a Chartered Chemical Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineering and studied to receive an MBA from ESCP Europe in 2012 and has used this to broaden his focus from engineering into business and leadership. During his career Ben has made many presentations and given talks on a wide variety of subjects and enjoys working with others to help develop their speaking and communication skills as well as his own.
