Presidential Address by Steve Gill FinstR.
Steve became IOR President in March 2016 and during this event he will be discussing the future of the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump industry. This will be an interactive session with invited guests and discussion with the audience. It will be followed by the debate programme below.
Debate with CIBSE ASHRAE Group - Is air conditioning for comfort cooling necessary in the UK?
The Presidential Address will be followed by a debate on the topic of “Is Air Conditioning for Comfort Cooling necessary for the UK?” Invited guest speakers will join Steve for a panel debate. The speakers represent different approaches to the issues around the impact of the growing use of air conditioning in the sector:
- FETA (incorporating BRA, HEVAC and HPA) represented by Graham Wright FInstR Chairman of the FETA Board
- ASHRAE & CIBSE represented by ASHRAE Past President Richard Rooley FREng, FCIBSE, Fellow of ASHRAE
- BESA (The Building Engineering Services Association) represented by Graeme Fox FInstR Senior Mechanical Engineer
Together they will explore some of the high level strategic issues facing the sector and the importance of air conditioning both now and in the future as demand is expected to grow. Topics will include the environmental impact of air conditioning, the roles of standards and building performance, international challenges, and opportunities for collaboration.
