In the past, we only considered a pressure ulcer under adult safeguarding, if the pressure ulcer was grade 3. We no longer do this because any grade of pressure ulcer, could be caused by abuse or neglect. However, not all pressure ulcers should immediately be considered a safeguarding concern.
This forum is to provide you with an update on the pressure ulcer and adult safeguarding protocol.
The Safeguarding Adults' Board has approved a pressure ulcer protocol with all our health partners which helps to clarify how to determine when a safeguarding concern should be raised in the case of pressure ulcers, and when one should not.
This 1.5hr session will take you through understanding the new protocol, who is responsible for doing what and when - so that you can feel clear and confident in this area of work.
We look forward to seeing you there.
*The forum has now been opened to all front line practitioners and will operate on a first come, first serve basis.
