Following on from a two week residency in St.Helens Libraries, we are delighted that Iain Stringer Works will be premiering Prevail, his new work in St.Helens during LGBT History Month 2017
A dying father is cared for by his two devoted sons. One of his sons works for ‘the authorities’ as a judge. It's his duty as judge to trial those who threaten societies order by placing them in the public stocks. We see the judge trial two men- for ‘gay relations’.
During the trial their faces remain hidden by head sacks, their hands bound. But as they reach the stocks the judge wants their faces revealed. His brother’s face is revealed. The judge is publicly horrified. He seeks help from his dying father.
His father is shocked and disappointed that one brother could do this to another. With a dying breath he says he must free his son... and his lover. Will he listen to his father? Will he show remorse?
