An introductory session to Gangs, Youth Violence. Practical solutions to help anyone who works with young people, families and communities.

About this event

Our Overview

Welcome to a 'Child Centred Approach' to dealing with youth violence and gangs wherever you are. This complex issue can be reduced and leave young people in positive positions, breaking the cycle and working towards long term wins.

The session will help anyone who is new to this agenda, seeking to gain useful insight on tackling this issue nationally. Also this training is a short course refresher for anyone who wants to rebuild some of their learning after spending time in the field.

Our Why

Here at The Centre for Youth Violence Solutions (CYVS) we exist to prevent youth violence by working closely with those 'dealing' with the issue within our communities. We aim to do this by;

> Putting children first as we tackle Youth Violence

> Empower and equip others to safeguard children from youth violence

> Create a collective that supports you, pushing you past rhetoric

Our Session Outcomes

 Anyone attending will have an increased knowledge of these issues

 Participants will be clearer about the drivers of these issues

 Participants will begin to challenge their thinking around the solutions

 Helpful next steps will be shared with participants

 Participants will feel empowered to implement new thinking into how to tackle these issues in their locality

 The importance of relationship building with young people 'Whats strong over whats wrong'.

Our Participants

The programme is most suited for new employees or those who job responsibilities lend itself to youth violence reduction, gangs work, knife crime, child criminal exploitation and knife crime. We expect to see neighbourhood and front facing Police, Housing officers, Educational leads and teachers, Social workers, Family workers, Mental health workers, Youth and charity Workers, Public health workers, PCC officers, Immigration services, Criminal Justice members, Prison officers, Children’s homes workers, Safeguarding officers, Foster parents, Parents, Councillors, Faith leaders and Probation members. Anyone willing to learn more and working within this remit.
