Event description

Description

In an ageing world, it is crucial to consider the role of preventative health interventions in supporting people to live more active, healthier lives for longer. To this end, ILC-UK is launching an international programme of work exploring the importance of prevention in our ageing world. Focusing on high and upper middle socio-demographic index countries, ILC-UK will examine the scale of and trends in disease burden. Preventing disease and limiting long-term impairment and the compounding impact of multiple diseases not only has positive health and wellbeing outcomes, but also wider economic ones. The research we will conduct over coming months will draw out evidence to demonstrate the value of prevention and highlight case studies of effective prevention programmes and actions targeted at older people.

The launch reception, kindly hosted by cross-bench peer Baroness Greengross, will provide an opportunity to hear more about the project from our researchers, as well as network with key global stakeholders across policy, industry and the third sector. During the reception, you will also have an opportunity to feed into our project plans offering your expertise around how public policy needs to respond to the challenges and opportunities of ageing.

As we will be serving drinks and canapes during the reception, please inform us of any dietary requirements. Please also let us know if you will require any support with access.
