Overview
Tales from the Caucasus:
Agil Abdullayev, Farhad Farzali, Ulviyya Iman, Ramina Saadatkhan
Tales from the Caucasus presents the work of four artists from Azerbaijan and the surrounding region who reflect on personal and societal transformation. In paintings and moving image works, the artists depict contemporary life through a mode of figuration that is rich in storytelling. They present everyday scenes and ordinary bodies often infused with the fantastical aspects of folk tales and myths. The emotional and psychological charge of particular moments and places form the core subject of the exhibition – be that a domestic living room, a city park at night or the shoreline of the Caspian Sea.
