Marking 50 years since the first UK Pride, this year, we’re looking back over the heritage and evolution of Pride; coming together to celebrate the progress made and the journey still to come.
Raising money for Opening Doors, the UK’s only dedicated charity providing activities, events, information and support services specifically for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, non-binary or gender fluid, LGBTQ+ people over 50.
Creating an open platform for conversation, sharing personal stories, the challenges, ideas and innovations for the future of the LGBTQ+ community.
ABOUT THE EVENT
Join us for this open and funny conversation with presenter, writer, actor, director and comedian, Sue Perkins, accompanied by fellow actor, writer, comedian and recipient of the BBC’s very first Young People’s Comedy Laureate, Mawaan Rizwan.
The quick fire, self-depreciating comedy of Sue Perkins has long made her a household name and a firm favourite on British television; whilst Mawaan is fast cementing his own name in British television and comedy, perhaps most notably contributing as one of the writers of Netflix's hugely popular, Sex Education.
Listen in as this duo discuss Sue's LGBTQ+ experience growing up, chatting through the challenges, changes and celebrations, exploring and identifying the attributes of LGBTQ+ life which still resonate with Mawaan and Sue today.
