About this event
Hosted by the lovely folks at the Royal Society of Chemistry, our dazzling array speakers will be delving into queer science history, and other fascinating technical subjects too! This event is open to everyone, no matter your gender or sexual orientation!
We have an exciting range of speakers, including:
Sacha Coward will be talking about videogames! Fascinated by queer folklore (especially mermaids!), Sacha organises videogame themed museum tours, builds Escape Rooms and is a trustee of Stroud’s Museum in the Park.
Dr Scott Allan Orr - Scott is a lecturer in Heritage Data Science at the UCL Institute for Sustainable Heritage.
Dr Clara Barker - Clara is an LGBTI+ activist, a scientist (who happens to be trans) at the Materials department of Oxford University and Stonewall School Role Model. Clara will be talking about some thin film deposition techniques and the main focus of her lab, High Temperature Superconductors.
Henry Morris - Henry is a Postgraduate Research Student in the Slater Group & The Leverhulme Research Centre for Functional Materials Design at the University of Liverpool. Henry will be talking about flow chemistry and what improvements it can offer us over traditional batch methods.
Dr Matthew Leech - Matt is a synthetic chemist currently working at the University of Greenwich. Matt will be talking about the use of electricity as a mild and green source of electrons, and its use in the synthesis of organic compounds
Nour Tanbouza - Nour is a PhD student in Chemistry studying at Laval University in Canada and is the co-chair of the 4th annual "Leaders Overcoming Gender Inequality in Chemistry” LOGIC conference. Nour will be talking about the wonders of flow chemistry for organic synthesis and how it adheres to the 12 principles of green chemistry.
