About this event

Wandering through the enormous collection of world famous paintings at the National Gallery is awe-inspiring, but it’s not the sort of place you expect to find many queer stories, at least, not very obvious ones.

But in hidden in plain sight throughout history are the recognisable symbols and themes of a queer community that has always existed, even though oppression and persecution.

Join us to explore queer artists from the Renaissance to the 20th century; the painters, works and characters that have become LGBTQ+ icons and symbols of queer identity and resistance!

We are professional tour guides, we are historians, we are artists, and we are rebels! Tired of the traditional world of tour-guiding, we came together to create a different way of experiencing London. One that would allow us to share the stories that we really love, and create an engaging, interactive environment where you’re not just a passive tourist, but an active part of the group!
