Free Training to primary/secondary transitions school staff with a responsibility for delivering PSHE.
As a result of the success of PSHE training rolled out across Devon from November 2018 to March 2019 to secondary school staff and in line with the introduction of mandatory elements of PSHE in 2020, Devon want to be ahead of the curve.
We have decided to offer a set of courses for those who are working in the primary schools with transitions years students (years 6-7).
This is a partnership approach, designed to promote confident delivery of PSHE and RSE and put schools in touch with their local experts.
Drugs & Alcohol - Educating Young People in a modern landscape
Designed and delivered by Y-SMART Young people’s drugs and alcohol services
Attendees will be able to gain an understanding of what a drug is, why young people use drugs and why some are more vulnerable to misuse. They will explore protective factors and what can make a young person more resilient to drug misuse. giving an understanding of basic principles of drugs education in a school based setting gaining confidence to facilitate difficult conversations with young people around drugs and alcohol, including issues such as the impact of parental/family substance misuse on young people, the media and the ever changing drugs landscape.
