Event description
PSHE training module for Primary School & Secondary School transitions staff focusing on Promoting Resilience

About this Event

Free Training to primary/secondary transitions school staff with a responsibility for delivering PSHE.

As a result of the success of PSHE training rolled out across Devon from November 2018 to March 2019 to secondary school staff and in line with the introduction of mandatory elements of PSHE in 2020, Devon want to be ahead of the curve.

We have decided to offer a set of courses for those who are working in the primary schools with transitions years students (years 6-7).

This is a partnership approach, designed to promote confident delivery of PSHE and RSE and put schools in touch with their local experts.

Promoting Resilience & How to have difficult conversations with Young People

Designed and delivered by Y-Smart and DYS Space.

Attendees will be able to gain knowledge of techniques to foster a safe environment within PSHE setting where young people feel safe to discuss the issues they feel are important to them. Identify the factors that can lead to poor academic performance and poor emotional wellbeing, to explore the link between emotional wellbeing and academic achievement. To understand the factors that can make young people more resilient, and gain confidence to be able to “roll with” difficult conversations and resistance using a range of strategies around supportive challenge, eliciting change talk and supporting aspiration.
