Introduction

These sessions aim to create a support network in which schools share ideas, effective practice and discuss issues surrounding SEND. To focus on practical solutions to common challenges and gain expert advice and guidance from SEND lead professionals. In each meeting we will:

- Find out about development and updates in the field of SEND

- Share and learn from good practice

- Network with colleagues from other schools and agencies

Rollout of The Balanced System® across Torbay and Devon - Hannah Burton, Operational Manager for the Speech, Language and Communication pathway (across Devon), Lead Speech and Language Therapist in the Enhanced Speech and Language Provision (ESLP).

The development of Devon Family Hubs, what they will be and the phase rollout plan. - Ian Flett - Service Manager, Early Help and Partnerships & Claire Lynds - Commissioning Officer, Childrens and Young People’s Services, Devon County Council.

Information regarding the Ambassador Volunteer network and ‘The Four Cornerstones’ strategy as mechanisms for parent partnership - Abi Gascoyne, Ambassador Volunteer Coordinator & PINS Project Officer & Sarah Lord, Four Cornerstones Partner.


11:15 – 12:00

Language Enrichment Group (LEG) training. Focusing on enhancing children’s vocabulary, listening skills, sentence construction, and confidence in communication through screening assessments and resources. Designed for early learners, the initiative supports schools in addressing the growing need for speech and language development among young children. - Hannah Burton, Operational Manager for the Speech, Language and Communication pathway (across Devon), Lead Speech and Language Therapist in the Enhanced Speech and Language Provision (ESLP).

Target audience

These termly sessions are open to SENDCos, Behaviour Support Leads and Senior Leaders from all SWIFT member schools.

Non-chargeable Courses (Sessions that are part of the ‘no additional charge’ elements of the SWIFT membership)

  • If the place you are cancelling is for a ‘no additional charge’ event under the SWIFT Offer to Schools, you may withdraw, without penalty, provided a minimum notice of 24 hours before the start time of the event is given.
  • If less than 24 hours’ notice is given, for each date of a course for which there is no additional charge, then the following charges will apply per applicant: £25.00

Should a training course recruit insufficient numbers to make it viable, we reserve the right to cancel the course, without penalty, giving a minimum notice of 24 hours.
