Description

Introduction:

This is an expression of interest at this stage, with selection for the subsidised places available based upon the information provided. We will notify successful delegates by Friday 13 September 2019.

This course is part of a wider programme of investment to support skills development for staff in local businesses. The investment aims to address skills shortages and courses have been identified through consultation with businesses and industry bodies. Delegates must be Entitled or Entitled for work*

Course cost and dates:

The subsidised price is £340. The full cost would normally be £1,470. PRINCE2 is a 5 day course running from 14 to 18 October 2019 from 9am to 5pm every day. There are only 3 subsidised places available.

What we require from you

Please follow the link to register your interest and explain why you are suitable. The expression of interest will ask you to state the following:

1) the project work you are involved in and your motivations for wishing to undertake the programme

2) why the subsidy is required. Funding will be prioritised towards individuals who compelling demonstrate the need for funding support

3) confirmation that you are able to fund your contribution of £340, you are committed to completing the course and the assessments and that you will sign a training agreement that will mean you will need to pay back the full course costs (including subsidy) where the course and assessments are not completed (exceptional circumstances excluded)

Target audience:

Delegates should be frequently involved in the design, development and delivery of projects. Delegates can also be aspiring project managers. The PRINCE2 course and methodologies will help develop your skills within the project management profession and gain confidence when leading high profile projects.

Course summary:

This is a fully accredited 5 day programme leading to PRINCE 2 foundation and practitioner status subject to passing the required examinations

Course Objectives:

  • Understand the PRINCE2 method at Foundation and Practitioner levels
  • Understand the integrated elements of PRINCE2 (principles, processes, themes and tailoring) within a work environment
  • Understand the benefits and principles underlying a structured approach to project management
  • Help delegates to operate effectively with colleagues and managers within a structured project management environment

How will it be assessed?

Exam based as follows:

  • Foundation: 1 hour, closed book, 75 multiple-choice questions.
  • Practitioner: 2½ hours, open book (PRINCE2 manual only), 8 scenario-based objective test questions.

Course details:

  • Delegates should report to the Professional Studies Centre, which is on the Highlands College Campus behind the Highlands cafe (adjacent to a grass playing field). It is best accessed using the St Saviours Hill entrance. The screen in the entrance will state the room the course is in.
  • Parking is available on site. Delegates who are travelling by car should arrive by 08:45am each day in order to locate a parking space. Delegates should report to the classroom to pick up a parking permit.
  • Please arrive at the venue 10 minutes before the start time each day
  • Tea, coffee, water and biscuits will be available throughout the day. Lunch is not provided. Delegates should either bring a packed lunch or can use the Highlands College canteen, which is located within short walking distance (2 minutes) from the Professional Studies Centre.
  • Please bring note pad and pen
