Principles of Dementia - Level 2 Online Course
Our level 2 course will help you to understand and achieve the care required for working with people with dementia.

About this event
Important Information:
This is a 12-week (approx. 120 hours) Online Self-Study qualification course. It can be started anytime and accessed (via a learning portal) at times/days to suit you.
Register your interest and we will email you an application pack - learning cannot be started until these forms are completed and submitted.
Once this is done, we will send information on how to access the learning portal.
You can only apply for one course at a time however upon completion you can enrol on a further 2 courses per academic year.
Please note to enrol on this course learners must:
- Be aged 19+ on the 31/08/2024
- Live in the UK for 3 years/live in UK from EEA or have *pre-settlement or *Settled status from the Home Office (*proof required)
- Due to Government funding criteria, we are unable to accept learners who live in London, Scotland, Wales, N Ireland, Ireland or a devolved postcode areas. Please check with us if you are unsure.
Certificate in the Principles of Dementia Care
This online self-study course allows you to study at your own pace at a time and day that is convenient for you, gaining a level 2 qualification.
Dementia is one of the main causes of disability in later life, and cases are rising - by 2052, it's expected that two million people in the UK will have dementia.
If you work with people with dementia, it's important that you understand different approaches to dementia care.
Our level 2 course will teach you the different forms of dementia, and how to support individuals with person-centred care and positive communication.

- Dementia Awareness
- The Person-Centred Approach to the Care and Support of Individuals with Dementia
- Understand the Factors That Can Influence Communication and Interaction with Individuals who have Dementia
- Understand Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Dementia Care
- Understand the Administration of Medication to Individuals with Dementia Using a Person-Centred Approach
- Understand Behaviour in the Context of Dementia
- Understand the Benefits of Engaging in Activities in Social Care.

How Will I Learn:
All learning will be online (self-study) and can be completed at a time that suits without the need to attend college. Dedicated tutors will provide written feedback on the assessments and ongoing remote support where required.
The course includes online learning materials in the form of interactive resources and flipbooks, a personalised login to access the online learning portal will be given on enrolment.
Are there any exams or assessments?
You will be required to work through a series of tasks and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and demonstrate your knowledge. Your personal tutor will then assess your work and provide you with constructive feedback for each unit.
Will I achieve a qualification or certificate?
NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Dementia.
