Have you ever wondered what lino cutting is, or wanted to have a go at sewing? Well, this is the perfect class for you – it mixes the two crafts together creating the perfect taster day!
At the new arts space at Coda Music & Arts Trust, Kate and Nancy will guide you through the processes of creating a bag or cushion cover with a print that you have lino cut and printed yourself.
Kate Smith is a printmaker based in the New Forest. She uses her drawing skills to create images of wildlife, plants and trees. Nancy is an historical costume maker and teaches sewing and pattern making to adults and young people. Both Kate and Nancy have studios at Coda Music & Arts Trust and love sharing their passion for their individual crafts with others.
On the day Nancy will show you how to sew either a simple tote bag or a cushion cover. Once this stage has been complete Kate will provide you with a range of designs to choose from. Once you have made your choice, she will show you how to transfer the designs to lino, then carve and print them onto the bag or cushion cover. You will take home a unique accessory for you or your home, and a lino cut to re-use if you wish.
This class will take place in Studio 7, The Stables at Coda Music & Trust. There is a large car park. Please bring a packed lunch, tea and coffee is included.
This class is only suitable for adults.
