A friendly and informal evening session in the Darkrooms for beginners to learn how to make black and white prints from negatives.
About this event
Come along and make black and white photographic prints in the Darkrooms under the expert supervision of tutor Ruth Jacobs. All you need to bring are your black and white negatives; you will learn how to use the enlarger and processing chemistry to make a contact sheet, then choose your best images to make enlargements. By the end of the evening you will be able to take away beautiful prints in black and white!
Perfect for complete beginners and anyone wanting to refresh their darkroom skills. All materials provided, including photographic paper - book now as places are limited.

What should I bring with me to the session?
Please bring your own black and white negatives.
Can you accommodate medium format?
Yes, we have the facilities for you to print from medium format negatives.
How are you keeping the Darkrooms Covid safe?
We have improved our ventilation during lockdown and keep all our surfaces sanitised. Face coverings are requested to be worn in communal areas at St Pauls Learning Centre and it is individual choice in the Darkrooms. Gloves, soap, hand sanitiser and wipes are available at the Darkrooms.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Participants should be aged 16 and over
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Parking at St Pauls Learning Centre is limited, however, you can park on quiet streets nearby free of charge after 5pm. There are regular bus services along Stokes Croft, a short walk away, and the No.5 goes along nearby City Rd through St Pauls.

What's the refund policy?
You can have a full refund up to 7 days before the workshop, and a refund after that if your place on the session can be sold to another participant before the start date. Eventbrite's booking fee is non-returnable, sorry!
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Please bring proof of registration on paper, phone or tablet
Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?
Please don't pass your ticket on to someone else unless you are buying it as a present.
