printmaking in a day!
Event Information
About this Event
The whole day will take place at Pollock's Toy Museum; the day begins with a talk on health and safety; very quickly we'll learn how to use the tools with a block of lino, and using the museum's archive and library of images (or one you've brought from home) we'll adapt it to the wood blocks and carve into them. By the end of the day we will print them and be able to take them home too!
The museum holds a great archive of art books, especially on printmaking, as well as toy theatre imagery too. We can use this, or bring your own imagery with which to make a print. The wood blocks are A5 sized so bear that in mind and bring an image around that size, whether that be a drawing of your own or one you'd like to turn into a print - we will trace it onto the block, figure out which areas to cut out and keep for inking up, and then carve it.
Tea and biscuits will of course be provided, and in a manner compliant with the latest health and safety guidance around COVID. The museum is cleaned and sanitised after every visit, multiple times in a day.
Please bring: a facemask (we will be wearing them when moving around the museum at any point of the day, though you'll be able to take them off when seated at your individual work station)
-any drawing of your choosing (or you can pick one when you get to the museum)
See you soon! - S. Pollock.
