Printmaking with Gelli Plates

By Carousel Print Studio

Overview

Come join us for a hands-on experience in creating amazing prints using Gelli plates!
About this course

On this one day course you will experiment with both adding and subtracting ink from the plate.

Using textures, objects, stencils and mark making methods, you will build a small library of test prints as a compendium of ideas and approaches, before finalising your favourite methods into a monoprint artwork.

This workshop will show you the enormous potential and unique character of printmaking with gelli plates.

A bout the Tutor

Sam has been a full time printmaker for the past 8 years after over a decade teaching art, design and textiles in Secondary school.

Working from her home studio, Sam creates bold and colourful woodcut, linocut, stamp & screen prints, hand-printing her work onto paper, fabric and wood to make framed prints, free standing & wall hanging artwork and home-wares such as lampshades.

Sam develops ideas using drawing and collage, simplifying and arranging the shapes, forms and patterns.

'I like to experiment with arranging and re-arranging each individually hand-cut piece of wood & lino, having fun with various colour combinations to produce different designs for each print. Because of this way of working, many of my prints are one-off pieces.’
