About this Event

Join comedy writer Eleanor Thom discussing her funny, feminist memoir about what it's really like to live with endometriosis. The month of March is Endometriosis Awareness month, and this event will take place on Thursday 26th March at 6:30pm.

Endometriosis hit Eleanor Thom hard. From the spotlight of an exciting career in comedy with appearances in hit shows such as Absolutely Fabulous, Drifters, and sell out Edinburgh Festival runs, to the less enticing glare of operating theatre lights as she battled with a condition that affecrs approximately 1.6 million women in the UK alone. You may never have heard of this invisible disease, but you definitely know someone with it. Private Parts is a brutally honest, funny, and informative account of one person's ongoing encounter with a not oft-spoken about condition.

Eleanor Thom was born in Sheffield, England. She graduated from Manchester University with a BA in Film and Theatre. On graduation she created the award-winning female sketch group Lady Garden who toured the UK cicuit extensively, appearing on TV and radio and were Edinburgh Fringe Festival favourites. In 2013 she wrote and performed the critically acclaimed character stand-up show I Am Bev. As an actor she has appeared in Absolutely Fabulous, Live At The Electric and Drifters. Eleanor has written for Standard Issue Magazine and for some of the country's best known comedians on their live and TV work.
